First and foremost, a special thank you to Codie, Justin, The Shades, The Camp Wetspot Crew, Jasmine, Jeanie, Amber, Radu, The Cole Family, Tema, Chris, Alan, Amy, my Kirsch family, Anna-May, and the countless others who have supported me and sent even the smallest words of encouragement over the past few months. It has been a wild journey getting here. It's felt like such a long road; it's hard to believe it's only been a few months.

For those of you who don't know me, my name's Desiree, the founder of Dirt Queen LLC.

In April, I needed a drastic change in my work environment. I was stressed out with my job, and it was starting to impact my health, particularly when COVID hit. My mom and I used to dream of opening a health food store when I was little, she was all about wellness and homeopathic remedies, at one point she had well over 200 books on homeopathic medicine. Our cabinets were filled with kombucha cultures before it was cool, and our entertainment center was always decorated with crystals, Urban Outfitters would have cherished our apartment.

We didn't agree on a lot of the woo-woo. Still, one thing she taught me has remained a consistent belief in my life; the best nutrition should come from your diet, multivitamin supplements are only there to come in where your food comes short - they should be bioavailable and whole-food/plant-based. It was a privilege to have a mom who was so diligent about health when I was young.

Dirt Queen was inspired around COVID. When I heard everything about immune systems blasting every media outlet, I couldn't help but remember my mom and I's little dream of having a vitamin/health food store. People should have access to reasonably priced but high-quality vitamins- we carry a small number of brand name products. I worked very hard to consult with professionals, take GMP classes, and more to establish a safe product.

I also love medicinal mushrooms, and our inventory shows it. Lions Mane changed my life when I was about 23-24 years old (2013-2014). A Whole Foods employee working the vitamin section suggested a bottle of Paul Stamet's Host Defense Lions Mane to me in lieu of the Ginkgo I originally went in for. I was having issues with Chronic Stress related to working and going to school full time and coping with my moms declining health - my memory was shot. Within a couple of weeks, I remembered where I left my keys consistently, I forgot my wallet less, and in general, was recalling information quicker than before.

*Please note - this is just my story - I am not a healthcare professional, and none of our products are intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any disease. Do your due diligence on research and consult with a healthcare professional if you are seeking medical advice.

Nothing will ever replace a proper diet, solid nights rest, and drinking enough water, but I'm excited to carry some incredible products I firmly believe in. I'm also excited to carry artisan superfoods; they're such a good and fun way to get in touch with our food and bodies!

I hope you enjoy it, and I can't wait to see how Dirt Queen takes form.

Thank You,

Desiree Vickery
